Review: 2018 Jaguar E-PACE

The 2018 E-PACE has a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, with a zero-to-60 time of 6.6 seconds. The engine is connected to a precise 9-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with all-wheel drive.

All models feature Hill Launch Assist, JaguarDrive Control, Torque Vectoring by Braking, Dynamic Stability and Traction Control, Low Traction Launch, and All Surface Progress Control.

If your new ute will be more than just a commuter, you’ll be glad to know that E-PACE R-Dynamic models include twin tailpipes with finishers, a soft-grain steering wheel with gearshift paddles, a unique front bumper and grille, as well as interior styling enhancements for a racecar feel.

The U.S. Department of Energy reports that the E-PACE gets up to 21 MPG city and 28 MPG highway. You can go an estimated 434 miles on a full tank of gas.

Comfort and Convenience

E-PACE trims include the base model, S, and SE. The new compact utility vehicle from Jaguar seats up to five passengers comfortably, and has 24.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 52.7 cubes with the rear seats folded. Standard interior features include twin-zone Climate Control, 8-way front seats, Morzine headliner, metal treadplates with Jaguar script, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. It’s also standard with heated door mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, and Approach Illumination.

The S trim adds auto-dimming and power folding exterior mirrors and grained leather seats with 10-way power front seats, while the SE trim gives you 14-way memory front seats, a power tailgate, and Meridian Sound.

Tech and Features

Each model of the all-new E-PACE features Emergency Braking, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, Driver Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist, Front and Rear Parking Aids, and a rear camera. Additionally, the compact SUV has a 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment system, Jaguar Sound System, Bluetooth connectivity, Voice Control, and ECO Driving Style Assistant.

When you opt for the S trim, you add Connect Pro infotainment, a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, and Navigation Pro. Upper trims are also available with Pro Services, including Real Time Traffic Information, Online Search, Planning Routes, and Door-to-Door Routing.
