Review: 2018 Jaguar XE

Performance

The 2018 XE comes with four engine options. The base is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that makes 247 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, with RWD only. The most fuel-efficient option, which gets up to 42 MPG, is a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel that makes 180 horsepower and 318 lb-ft of torque, with standard RWD and available AWD.

You also have the option between two 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engines with 332 lb-ft of torque. The 340-horsepower model is available on most trims and comes in either RWD or AWD, while the 380-horsepower model is RWD only. All engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, all models feature dynamic driving modes, JaguarDrive Control, and Torque Vectoring by
Braking.

Comfort and Convenience

The Jaguar XE is available in six trims: XE, Premium, Prestige, Portfolio, R-Sport, and S. All trims come standard with automatic dual-temperature climate with solar sensing, mist sensing, and air filtration, as well as Phosphor Blue Ambient Interior Lighting. Seating options include Luxtec, grained leather, perforated grained or Windsor leather, or grained leather with suedecloth. Additionally, all trims are
available with heated front seats, heated steering wheel, heated front windshield, and heated wiper jets. Cooled front seats, heated rear seats, electric sunblind, and a Power Gestured Trunk Lid are also available. 

The new Jaguar sedan comes standard with the InControl Touch infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and navigation. The XE is also available with a Meridian Surround Sound System with 17 speakers and subwoofer, as well as a Navigation System with SD Card-based mapping, and InControl Wi-Fi with 4G hotspot.

Safety and Tech

The 2018 XE comes available with the latest in driver assistance technology. Most trims come available with a Blind Spot Monitor with Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection, a Rear View Camera, Rear and Front Parking Aid sensors, and Lane Departure Warning. Upper trims may feature Blind Spot Assist, a Surround Camera System, Park Assist, 360-degree Parking Aid, Traffic Sign
Recognition, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Head-Up Display.
